---------- Night Life ---------- Dusk Lifts The Sober Mask Of Day And Heralds In A Transformed Scene. Upon The Brightly Gilded Streets All Kinds Of People Meet Amidst The Disquiet Waiting For The Riot That Is To Come And The Thumping Bass Drums While The Myriad Neon Lights Enlivens The Night. Out Of School And Office They’d Scoot Home Tearing Out Of Uniforms And Business Suits And Donning Costumes Sleek They’d Come To Seek The Thriving Nightlife To Unwind From The Daily Grind Of Monotony—Here Lies A Sprawl Of Pleasures, Cigarettes And Alcohol. Here The Ladies Strut Their Stuff A Flesh And Fashion Parade More Than Enough For Men To Ogle At Grabbing Attention That Perhaps They Crave And Only The Reckless Brave Or Desperate Army Boys Out From Camp Try To Hit On Them Or Bid Their Time To Later Seize The Opportunity To Squeeze Amongst The Throngs Of Sweaty Bodies All Night Long Where More Than Shoulders Press And Rub Against Each Other And Licentious Hands Move Unnoticed, Ignored, Unpunished. Here The Vibrant Young Let Loose High On Smoke And Booze Wild And Rabid To The Music They Dance The Night Away In Euphoric Decay And Lose Themselves In This Abandon As The Mind Blanks In Bliss. And Then It Ends At Two Plus Three In The Morn The Music Stops, The Lights Come On Shattering The Dark And The Reality Of Another Day Is Stark In Their Heads As They Lumber Back Into A World That Slumbers In The Night. It’s Then A Sight Of Restless Souls Aimless On Where Else To Go; Of Vomit Upon The Ground And The Sober Hauling The Limp Around; Of A Trail Of Blue Lights That Await As The People Dissipate Patient For Their Turn— Cab Drivers With A Living To Earn. The Night Has Gone And The Dawn Has Yet To Greet The Shadows, And Ghosts Now Walk The Street. ---------- Night Life ---------- A nice poem by Kian Seh, one of my pal. Darn nice and decided to put it on the blog. Kudos to Kian Seh. _________________________________________________________________
